Energy Efficiency Tops Homeowner Window Needs

According to a recent window trends study conducted by Professional Remodeler magazine, 99 percent of responding remodelers say that they have specified energy-efficient window-related technology in the past 12 months for homeowners.

Leading the way are insulated double pane with low-e coating replacement windows followed by Argon/Krypton-filled units. While price remains a top consideration for homeowners when selecting replacement windows, they are clearly recognizing that energy efficient windows have a good return-on-investment.

Remodeler respondents of the study report that 16 percent are installing vinyl home windows on all their projects, while 69 percent use the durable vinyl replacement windows, such as those found on Simonton windows, in at least some of their projects.

Who is making the material and brand decisions on replacement windows? The study shows that 62 percent of remodelers indicate that their clients rely on them to make all material and brand recommendations. Just 16 percent of remodelers report that homeowners come to them with a specific brand or material in mind ... and even then, the remodeler still has powerful influence over the final purchasing decision.
